I have always viewed the saxophone as a rather flexible instrument. It finds a home in many places in the in the musical world – jazz, classical, rock, r&b… In this respect the saxophonist sometimes becomes a hybrid musician that is called upon to draw on many genres and styles in performance. This album contains a collection of works that requires the saxophonist to channel the qualities that are present in other styles in ways that are sometimes sly and understated and at other times very clear and obvious.
